PROJECT OVERVIEW
Project Title: Civil Rights Movement Genius Hour
Driving Question: How can we as activists inform others about key events and people of the Civil Rights Movement?
Project Standards: Social Studies
SS5H6 Describe the importance of key people, events, and developments between 1950- 1975.
b. Explain the key events and people of the Civil Rights movement: Brown v. Board of Education (1954), Montgomery Bus Boycott, the March on Washington, Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights Act, and civil rights activities of Thurgood Marshall, Lyndon B. Johnson, Cesar Chavez, Rosa Parks, and Martin Luther King, Jr.

Project Summary:
The students will be given a choice of five events in American History to research and produce a product of their findings. They will research the history, develop a timeline of events relevant to the event/person, as well as provide any background information pertinent to the topic. Each student will have to provide and complete an Event Report to include any relevant information to make the product remarkable.

Public Product: The students will use the information they have researched to present to community members.
